DEPARTMENT OF SHALYA TANTRA
Shalya Tantra is an important branch of Ayurveda which deals with various modern and Ayurvedic Surgical and Para surgical procedures. Along with modern surgery this branch specially carryout different parasurgical procedures like Kshara Karma, Agnikarma, Raktamokshan etc. When we list out the first to contribute in Surgery, Maharshi Sushruta’s name is seen. He has described about Dissection, Absorbable Suture materials, Operative procedure for specific diseases, Plastic Surgery in his Sushruta Samhita, so he is called “Father of Surgery”.
Our Shalya Tantra Department is well established having all instruments, equipments, Models, Charts, Museum, Tutorial Room, Kshara Sutra Lab. & Departmental Library in order to provide proper training of the students to make them efficient in Ayurvedic & Modern Surgery.
